Prospecting: How To Become A Top Seller
While being in Marketing for a number of years now, there are a few things that I have learned about prospecting for leads . And the most important thing is how to close them more efficiently and concisely.
What most “green” people, that are new in home based businesses are looking for is someone who displays confidence. In starting a home business, you need to focus and demonstrate to yourself that you are an expert. Why do you think that fooling yourself is as believable as fooling someone else? What I’m trying to say here is that people can pick up a bad “vibe” about someone and no one really wants to be sold on something. At that point you’re not much better than a used car salesman, and that is what we are absolutely NOT looking to do when we prospect for leads!
While Prospecting For Leads,Be yourself! People Can Sense a “Fake”
As much as I thought I was a real nice guy, pleasant to deal with and very professional, I was still a bit of a robot and apparently most people viewed me as a rookie and were not convinced that I knew what I was talking about. And this can only be improved on with experience. Now that I have a genuine feeling about myself, it reflects in more closed prospects, and the best part about it is that I just take a deep breath, sit back, and be MYSELF!
Most of your business prospecting clients are just curious and are floating around the internet and sometimes stumble upon your site and your information. These people, although moderately interested, will most likely not commit to anything. But still don’t give on these people. Consistently check in with them. You’d be surprised on how persistence pays off when you are in touch with a prospect or a mistaken prospect on a regular basis. Although initially not interested on what you have to offer, certain interests come out in people and in turn they become a real prospect.
It’s the people who have searched you. They need a bit of coaching and guidance to see that they get to that point of commitment in their lives where their success and well being comes into play.
Don’t Ever Feel That Your Prospect Has Lost Interest
Even though they don’t commit initially, doesn’t mean they wont in the future. Don’t rule people out just because of an initial let down. People need to allow information to sink in. Often times the information will convince them to move on and proceed with what you have to offer them. Even if they come back 6 months later, they still came back.
The toughest thing in prospecting for leads ,are people that get in the right direction with you, show prosperity and drive, but get to a peak in which they just stop and give up. Most of the top home businesses start this way Giving them the encouragement that they need will help them get over that mountain, but explain to them where they can and WILL be in a short period of time. Explain your success story and how you haven’t looked back.
